"When someone mentions horrible wreckers. Australian 4X4 Dismantlers in South Albury is always the first name that comes to mind. The stories i always tell are that time i went to get a price on selling a car for scrap. They offered $50 for the entire thing. Which was fine, but i mentioned i just wanted to remove the battery first because i only just purchased the battery the previous week (for around $200). They said they wouldn't take the car unless the battery came with it.. Yeah mate, let me just pay you $150 to take my car... I then left and went straight to the steel scrap yard and they gave me $77 and happily let me remove the battery. That in itself isnt the worst, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. The thing that i thought was utterly absurd was another time when i came in looking for a secondhand seatbelt. While i waited for someone to come to the counter. I noticed a massive sign addressing potential customers "IF YOU CAN GET A BRAND NEW PART ON EBAY FOR CHEAPER, BUY IT FROM THEM!!". What this tells me is they were consistently overcharging people for second hand parts and rather then address this fact.. they put up a sign instead attacking the customers. After seeing that sign I no longer wanted to support this kind of business and left before anyone even made it to the counter. I wouldn't be surprised if the sign was still there."
